What is certified organic?

Certified Organic is mean that the organic farming or processing are comply with the international or national standard to ensure the product are organic production.


In Australia, there is few independent certification bodies:
1. Bio Dynamic Research Institute - DEMETER
2. Australian Certified Organic - ACO
3. National Association of Sustainable Agriculture in Australia - NASAA
4. Organic Herb Growers of Australia - OHGA

ACO is one of the biggest certifier for organic produce and it is a non profir association that has over 20 year experience working for the organic industry, it already has 1500 operators within its certification system.

Australian Certified Organic -ACO

ACO is a fully-owned subsidiary of Biological Farmers of Australia (BFA) which provides market information & research for ACO.


Application for organic certification

To get the certification from ACO, applicant needs to have a 12 months pre certified period. During the 12 months time, ACO will do testing on any samples & prepared a audit report, statutory declaration, residue analysis, farm plan, supporting document fot ACO review committee to reviews the application. Finally, a certification issued.
